The town of Kyustendil is located 90 km from Sofia (about 1h – 1h 30 min drive from the capital) and about 30-45 min drive from the North Macedonian and and Serbian border. Greece in 2-hour drive, while reaching it from other countries such as Albania, Romania or Turkey will take you some 3-5 hours depending on the traffic.
Your best option is to rent a car and drive to the city. Renting a car will also give you the freedom other places along the way or even make a quick trip to Serbia. The most common way by car from Sofia takes about 1.5-2 hours.
Another option is to travel by bus. There are more than a dozen buses reaching the town of Kyustendil from Sofia, Blagoevgrad and some other small cities.
